Picnic Up The Dunstable Downs

Picnic Up The Dunstable Downs

We put our beloved minibus into action for the first time by taking a trip to the Dunstable Downs last week! We enjoyed a beautiful spread, along with kite-flying and a lovely sing-song for good measure... Can't forget the music, of course!

Here's some pictures from the day. Thank you to everyone who made it a fantastic first trip out!

Millie's Muse

Millie's Muse

We're lucky enough to have met a wonderful soul - Millie Smith. Teela met Millie on the acute mental health wards a short while ago and has since been working with Millie after she was discharged around 6/7 weeks ago. Millie writes a beautifully insightful blog about the trials and tribulations of living with Bipolar Disorder. In addition, Millie has therefore written a blog about her experiences working with Music24 so far... Here is a link:

The Incredible Power of Music - with Music24 | The Wandering Soul by Camilla Lucy Smith (aka Millie)

We really hoped you enjoyed the read... We feel blessed to have met you Millie and there's lots of exciting things to come! Its hard to find people who really understand the power of music in the way that you do...!

NB: Page header picture (above) is Millie performing with the Dunstable Rock Choir.

Music24 Skydive - we landed safe and sound!

Ok, so it's safe to say we'd do almost anything for Music24... including jumping out of a perfectly functioning plane! Hmmm! Well what can we say; Teela, Graeme and Millie completed their Skydiving Challenge (from 13,000ft) on Friday 29th July and a truly amazing experience was had by all! After soaring with the birds they are now recovering from achy bones, a few minor bruises and.. well, pure amazement and wonder at how breathtaking the Skydive was! When's the next one!?

We'd like to thank all the wonderful and generous people that have supported us in raising over£1,058 (with further donations still being collected). Your faith and kindness means the world to us and we are extremely grateful for all of the support we have received from both old and new friends of Music24!

Here are some pictures from the day. Firstly we have Graeme with the blue and white parachute, Millie with the solid navy blue parachute and finally Teela with the orange and blue parachute.

We'd also like to thank the team at Hinton Skydive Centre who took care of us on the day. Their professionalism is second to none and they have a wonderful team to be really proud of.

If you haven't donated yet then don't worry, there's still time. Follow the link: Music24's Big Jump

The wheels on the bus go round and round!

The wheels on the bus go round and round!

Last week, the wonderful AFC Dunstable Football Club handed the keys over to their trusty bus and donated it to Music24. We were thrilled with this amazingly kind gesture from the side that topped the table last year in the Spartan South Midlands League, winning their promotion to Evo-stikSouthern League Division One Central!

Thank you so much lads, we can't believe our luck! This will help us develop our services and make them more accessible to those that find it hard getting out and about. We also will be planning a few trips this year now and really put it to use!

For more info about the generous exchange, please follow this link to AFC Dunstable's website: http://www.afcdunstable.com/index.php/news/259-m

Who we are

Here at MUSIC24 we are a small not-for-profit organisation delivering music therapy services to adults with learning disabilities, mental health conditions and dementia to people living in and around Luton and Bedfordshire. Since starting in 2014 we have grown in a number of ways and feel we are now ready to not only increase the number of services we deliver but also register as a charity to support our work. We feel that the future for us here at MUSIC24 is exciting but also challenging.

What We Need

For this next part of our growth we are looking to create a strong HR partnership with a local company. Initially we would need help to review our current policies, in particular our equality and diversity policy and safeguarding policy and procedure, and create an appropriate constitution to ensure sound governance.  Along with this we will need to think about things such as introducing employment contracts and also the policies that this entails.

If you feel your HR service will be beneficial for us whilst delivering value then please let us know. We are looking at setting up initial meetings for the w/c 20 June 2016 so would therefore need any expressions of interest sent to us no later than 3pm on Wednesday 15 June 2016.

If when sending your expressions of interest you can include the following:

1.     A brief outline of who you are and what you do

2.     Any experience you have within the charity sector

3.     Any pricing structure / packages that you feel may be relevant to us.

We would like to thank you for your time in considering working with us. To express interest or if you have any further questions then please contact teela@music24.org.uk
